The GOVERNMENT's Advisory Group for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning met for the first time last week. The group, which is chaired by Bob Fryer, principal of Northern College, will be "looking at how to achieve a culture change for adult learning", education minister Tessa Blackstone said.

Vice chair is Alan Tuckett, director of NIACE, and the team will include former THES editor Peter Scott, pro-vice chancellor of Leeds 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ who takes over as vice chancellor at Kingston 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ in September, Dan Fin, of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Portsmouth, Hywel Francis, of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales, Swansea, and Tom Schuller of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Edinburgh.
