WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking to fill a?Researcher II position (roughly equivalent to a?postdoc) with a?focus on grammaticalization and language change in Latin or Greek. The successful candidate will work within a?research project hosted at Masaryk 51国产视频 and investigated jointly with the Charles 51国产视频 in Prague and the Czech Academy of Sciences (PI Pavel Caha). The specific research topic within the project is grammaticalization (pragmaticalization), language development, and language change. The postdoc will work on this topic in collaboration with Jana Mikulová.

Professional education, qualifications and experience


	Ph.D. in Latin or Greek philology with a?focus on linguistics or related disciplines – required.
	A research worker who obtained their Ph.D. (or an equivalent qualification at ISCED level 8) no more than 7 years ago (from the date of dissertation defense). This period may be extended for maternity or parental leave, long-term illness (more than 90 days), caregiving for a?family member (more than 90 days), pre-certification training, or military service.
	At least one scholarly publication indexed in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science or Scopus databases within the last three years, classified as "article," "book," "book chapter," "letter," or "review" (as of the date of selection). The applicant must be the main author of at least one publication (depending on field specifics, this may be the first author, corresponding author, reprint author, or another explicitly defined role in the article).
	Experience in research outside the Czech Republic with at least a?0.5 full-time equivalent position or a?Ph.D. degree obtained abroad is an advantage. Czech citizens are not excluded.
	Prior work on the research topic and/or experience with research projects is an advantage
	Expertise relevant to the research topic.

We are looking for a Senior Research Assistant/ Research Fellow with a background in Health Services Research, with experience in advanced quantitative methodologies. Some experience in qualitative methods is also desired. In our study we are investigating whether it is possible to predict how many nurses are needed on hospital wards from routinely collected data. You will have an interest in healthcare workforce research, with an enthusiasm for researching nurse staffing decisions that maintain quality and safety of patient care. ?Your work will involve a variety of tasks including both individual and team working. The project offers opportunities to apply skills in qualitative data analysis of survey data, complex regression modelling and predictive data analytics. ??

The role?

You will join an interdisciplinary research group whose work has contributed to health workforce policy and guidance in the UK and worldwide. You will work on a 2.5-year study funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. This collaborative study involves co-Investigators from the 51国产视频 of Southampton, two NHS hospital Trusts, Imperial College London and NHS England.?

Working closely with co-Investigators, you will contribute to analysis tasks across the project. You will also be expected to contribute to tasks such as project management, data acquisition, database creation, workshop planning and preparation of publications, according to your previous experience and seniority.?

The post is funded until October 2027 with a fixed-term contract initially, but we will work with you to identify opportunities for ongoing funding. The research group “Atmospheric Transport Processes,” led by Prof. Andreas Stohl, is part of the?Department of Meteorology and Geophysics. The group develops the Lagrangian transport model FLEXPART and studies all aspects of transport in the atmosphere, ranging from greenhouse gases to pollutants, water vapour and heat, and uses inverse modelling techniques to determine sources of greenhouse gases, air pollutants and radionuclides.

Your personal sphere of play:

We seek a highly motivated candidate to co-lead the further development of the transport model FLEXPART and its applications. FLEXPART is a community model, and our group is committed to its further development and making it more user-friendly. We also maintain and develop software to process meteorological input data to the model, as well as software for the analysis of model output. One example is the software FLEXINVERT, which is used for inverse modelling applications, e.g., to determine the sources of greenhouse gases. We are also seeking to establish new scientific application fields for FLEXPART, and the candidate will be free to choose future research directions of his/her own choice.

The successful candidate will be a creative scientist who enjoys both writing and documenting model source code, as well as seeking novel model applications. As a result of this work, peer-reviewed publications documenting the model and describing its applications are expected. The successful candidate will also support master students, doctoral students and Postdocs in the group, and will – to a limited extent – provide support to external users of FLEXPART.

The responsibility for the code development will be shared with another senior scientist, Marina Dütsch, and the development shall integrate the work of the whole group
