The 51国产视频 is looking to appoint a Conference Host to join the team which supports commercial and corporate event activity within our award-winning Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC), across the campus, and supporting our Conference Management Service (CMS).

The Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) is the 51国产视频’s flagship research facility, opened by HM The Queen in July 2015. TIC is home to ?11m of dedicated, flexible conferencing facilities, and has quickly established itself as one the country’s most popular venues for business events and academic meetings, hosting more than 600 events and 46,000 delegates in academic year 2023/24 alone. The venue won the Bronze award for UK Best Academic Venue at the Meetings & Incentive Travel awards magazine in March 2019; was named Best Academic Venue at the CHS Awards in June 2019; Best Scottish Venue & Events Team at the E Awards in 2023 and is a proud holder of Green Tourism Gold accreditation.

Our Conference Hosts provide a range of practical support services to conference organisers, to ensure that all attendees have a first-class customer experience, whether their event takes place on campus or online. The post-holder plays a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, both on campus and online. Duties include (but are not limited to):


	First point of contact for building visitors, assistance with wayfinding in the building and general use of the facilities
	Providing front line support to all event organisers including troubleshooting, adjusting programs and requirements and relaying updated information to other operational departments
	Assisting with guest service, room set-ups, portering, and basic audio-visual support as operations require
	Management of event details for Occupant Room Use bookings, liaising with the Business Development Co-ordinator and with room bookers, to ensure that such meetings are delivered effectively, professionally and in a manner complementary to commercial conferencing activity.
	Supporting date entry, configuration of specific elements of functionality within the CMS platform; supporting attendee registration.


The Hosts work closely with the Conference Porter, Conference Operations Co-ordinators, Conference & Events Officers and the Conference Operations Manager, and with other operational support staff based in the venue.

The post-holder will be required to work 35 hours per week, 5 days over 7. Shift patterns will depend on the needs of the business, but will regularly include hours outside the normal working week, i.e. early mornings, evenings and weekends, throughout the year. A 5% premium will be added to the salary of the successful candidate to reflect this non-standard working pattern.

The Conference Host is essential to the effective operation of a first-class event experience at the 51国产视频. The role requires a motivated, enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail, a calm and professional demeanor, experience within a conferencing or events environment and a flexible approach to their work.

The dean’s duties?

What we are looking for?

The position requires a strategic and forward-looking vision for the development of the Faculty and the 51国产视频. Successful cooperation with the Faculty, the 51国产视频 community, the 51国产视频’s senior leadership and stakeholders is based on interaction, openness, collegiality and objective-setting. In addition, the position requires the following:?


	A doctoral degree ?
	Competence and professional skills required by the duties of the position?
	Good leadership skills as demonstrated in practice, for example, in an academic leadership position with operational responsibility?
	Financial and HR management skills as well as?leadership and supervisory skills, and willingness to develop in your role?
	An understanding of the academic world and experience in the academic management and leadership of a Faculty discipline?


The position requires proficiency in Finnish and English. Proficiency in Swedish will be considered an asset.

When making the appointment, merit will be accorded for insight into research and educational policy, experience in teaching, and engaging in active national and international cooperation in the field of the Faculty. 	Strong governance expertise, strategic oversight capability, and commercial acumen.
	Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and an ability to critically assess complex information.
	Experience evaluating and advising on strategic investments and investment strategy
	Demonstrated integrity, independence, and commitment to acting in the best interests of RMIT and the broader community.

This Customer Services Assistant position offers the opportunity to provide excellent service throughout the day for students, residents and other customers who interact with our services. You will be calm under pressure and have a commitment to providing excellent customer service at every touchpoint, whilst supporting the ongoing development and improvement projects for our customer facing areas. As an excellent communicator and multi-tasker, you will also play a part in providing valuable support to the supervisory team at the Mayflower Halls of Residence both within and outside of reception.

To ensure the smooth running of our service you will need to work in close partnership with colleagues in the Student Life team who collectively provide a 24/7 support to students in Halls. You will also need to collaborate with other departments within the 51国产视频 and external contractors who deliver services within our Halls of Residence.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence experience of working within a busy and diverse customer service environment. We are looking for an approachable and organised character with excellent communication skills. You will need to be confident working within a team, and customer service skills across any industry could well be an advantage. The department uses multiple computer systems to deliver its services therefore experience using multiple systems is essential.

This position is currently being advertised for 36-hours per week, on a Monday-Friday rota working between the hours of 8am and 8pm, but more generally shifts of 8am-4pm and 12pm-8pm.
