As our new Head of Sustainability, you will play a central strategic role in helping us achieve our ambition to become a net zero carbon institution by 2030. The Role

This is a high-impact position. Reporting directly to the Director of Estates and Facilities, you will:


	Drive forward the university’s Net Zero and broader Sustainability Strategy.
	Support decision-making at all levels across academic and professional teams.
	Lead sustainability communications and cultural change programmes.
	Oversee sustainability governance, environmental management systems, and compliance.
	Deliver and evaluate Key projects – from energy efficiency to biodiversity – ensuring they are aligned with national standards and our institutional goals.
	Represent UEL at local, regional and national forums as a champion for sustainability in higher education.


You will lead a team and collaborate with internal stakeholders, students, senior leaders, and external partners to embed sustainability into every aspect of UEL life.

About You

You are a visionary leader with a deep understanding of sustainability and environmental management. You bring:


	Proven success in leading sustainability strategies and projects in complex organisations.
	Knowledge of environmental legislation and standards (e.g., ISO 14001, BREEAM, WELL).
	Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills, particularly at a senior level.
	Experience building partnerships and securing funding to deliver measurable outcomes.
	A degree in a sustainability-related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Energy Management).


Ideally, you also bring experience in higher education and hold a relevant professional qualification such as Chartered Environmentalist or similar.

You will be directly involved with the UNIFORM (UNIfying Grid-FOllowing And Grid-foRMing Control In Inverter-based Resources) project, a collaborative programme with four academic and industrial partners that aspire to develop the next generation of inverter control. It is essential to have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications in Electrical/Power Systems, and especially in the areas of power system dynamics, stability and grid-forming control. Proficiency with relevant software, such as MATLAB/Simulink, is essential. Experience with hardware in the loop (HIL) setups and tests is desirable.

This highly collaborative project will involve multiple research visits to academic partners within the UK and abroad up to 30 consecutive days and up to 90 days per annum for joint research and knowledge exchange, as well as travel to conference and other venues for dissemination activities.

About us:

The Precision Health Informatics Data Lab, led by Professor Richard Dobson, is motivated towards enabling a “panoramic” view of patients that is precise, predictive, preventative and participatory, through the integration of traditional ‘omics data with data derived from mHealth, electronic patient records, knowledge graphs. The group works closely alongside the National Institute for Health Research Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR Maudsley BRC) supporting their translational research into novel tests, treatments and technologies to understand and treat mental disorders.

Our RADAR-Base platform is pioneering the future for mHealth technology in remote monitoring and management of health data. The RADAR-base platform is used in numerous research fields, spanning over 20 disorder areas in 54 studies. As a Project Manager, you will be crucial in this journey, working alongside our Product Manager and software development teams to ensure our projects are successfully delivered.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at a pivotal time for quality assurance at King’s.

The Quality Assurance Manager will work alongside the Senior Quality Assurance Manager and Senior Quality Assurance Officer to provide support to academic and professional services teams to deliver all quality assurance and compliance processes linked to the faculty’s portfolio of programmes and modules.

The post holder will support the implementation of the new curriculum management system across the faculty alongside managing the quality assurance framework and annual quality cycle.

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for managing the module and programme approval and modification process, tracking progress through the governance process and adhering to set deadlines.

The successful candidate should have experience in managing quality assurance processes or education programmes across an academic cycle, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

The role holder will be proactive and solution-focused, taking initiative to drive continuous improvement.?

This is currently a hybrid working role, where the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus, and part of the week working remotely. This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 July 2026.
