ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS

The Department of Applied Linguistics is a research-intensive environment with two MA programmes, which also contributes a Linguistics pathway on four UG programmes. We have recently established a Language and Cognition Research Laboratory, for Psycholinguistic and Phonetic research, with eye tracking technology. The School of HSS also hosts the Health Humanities Research Group, part of the Research Center for Culture, Communication, and Society:

Linguistics at XJTLU is a rapidly expanding area. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Associate/Senior Professor/Professor with excellent research, teaching, and supervision qualifications who will contribute to the department’s research profile. We are specifically looking for candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in one of the following areas:


	Language and health
	Health Humanities (Language and Linguistics-focused)
	Ecolinguistics / Language and Environment

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The appointee will be expected to contribute to the department’s research profile and should have an excellent track record of publication in their research area, appropriate to their stage of career. An ability and willingness to contribute to or lead collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects would be a strong advantage.

In terms of teaching, in addition to their specified area, the successful candidate must be able to contribute widely to the Undergraduate Programme, including in least two of the following: Introduction to Linguistics: Discourse, English as a Global Language, History of English, Language and Society, Semantics and Pragmatics, Language and Gender, Health Humanities, Intercultural Communication, or Language Documentation. A contribution to academic administration will also be expected.?

Staff typically teach 1-1.5module(s) per semester, depending on student numbers. The typical contact hours are around 6 hours per week.

About the role

The School of Education, Communication and Society (ECS) at King’s College London invites applications for a ten-month Postdoctoral Research Fellowship within the Global Observatory on Academic Freedom project (GOAF).

GOAF is a research endeavour launched in 2020 focusing on the study of contemporary understandings and practices of academic freedom across various jurisdictions, higher education systems and institutions. A key aspiration of GOAF is to produce research that supports the development of conceptual reference points and practical guidelines for academic freedom that are better adapted to the present times and challenges in this area. For this, GOAF engages with academic communities and other relevant stakeholders to both reimagine the concept and strengthen effective practices of academic freedom that transcend yet have utility in diverse academic, regulatory and social-political contexts.

This is a full time post and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 8 months from the day you start.

The Robotics and Intelligent Systems Control Laboratory (RISC) at NYU Abu Dhabi invites qualified applicants with a doctorate degree in the areas of electrical or computer engineering or computer science, or related fields to apply. The selected candidate will work on innovative AI methodologies in areas such as renewable energy integration (online forecasting tools and renewable energy management systems), smart transmission and distribution networks, AI-driven smart grid technologies, and demand response systems. The role involves conducting research, developing standalone and prototype AI solutions, and publishing in top-tier conferences and journals.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong publication record in AI-driven energy solutions. Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (MATLAB), as well as experience in statistical learning, and embedded systems, is required. Familiarity with cost-effective COTS-based environmental monitoring solutions is a plus. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in research-focused teams and contribute to innovative AI-driven solutions.

The JSAA seeks applicants who have their undergraduate coursework in any professionally accredited Gaming/ Immersive Media or related program and registration in India or in their country of residence with a master’s or higher degrees in related fields. Ideally, the candidate should have 3-5 years of experience working in the Gaming, Immersive Media.

Candidates should have expertise and research interests in Character Design, Smart Environments, IoT , AR / VR / MR and use of industry standard software such as Unity, Blender, Unreal or comparable software. The candidate should also be familiar and comfortable with various software used for Character Development, Programming Tools for IoT/Smart Environments. Ideal candidates will bring critical perspectives on the field with attention to environmental and other impacts.

Candidates would be expected to teach undergraduate theory and practical courses while also demonstrating a keen interest in developing coursework and contributing towards evolving the curriculum. Given the inter-disciplinary nature of pedagogical practices at the JSAA candidates will be expected to teach students from across various majors, and thus, develop coursework in a manner that highlights both the collaborative and inter-disciplinary nature of any practice. Further, candidates will be expected actively pursue research, critical practices and undertake institutional development.

Required Qualifications


	Master’s degree in Game Design, AR/VR/MR/XR or any allied field.
	Professional in the above-mentioned areas (minimum 2 to 4 years Assistant Professor / 5 to 7 years Associate Professor
