About the opportunity

The School of Medical Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cardiovascular Bioengineering in the Laboratory of Assoc Prof Anna Waterhouse in the Theme of Chronic Diseases, School of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health. You will design in vitro and microfluidic-based model systems to evaluate vascular interactions related to medical device complications and endothelial dysfunction. The project involves collaborative research with a team of experts in thrombosis, materials science, surface engineering, patient treatment and industry translation. You will apply and develop expertise in conducting research to further the research agenda of the Lab, School and Faculty. The successful applicant will contribute to research efforts independently asand collaboratively as part of a research team, through an understanding of the subject matter within the discipline.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	design and fabricate in vitro/microfluidic model systems to evaluate vascular cell and protein interactions in healthy and disease states
	perform a diverse range of cellular, biochemical, biophysical experiments and microscopy experiments to characterise the effects of biological, material and flow parameters
	demonstrate excellence in data analysis, interpretation of results and directing future experiments
	write scientific communications intended for publication in refereed journals and assist with preparation of research grant applications
	Assist in the supervision of graduate and honours level students
	Interpret and present data to collaborators and develop your profile through presentations at conferences and seminars.
	develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of more senior academic staff

Purpose

The School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM) Clinical Academic Coordinator (CAC) leads the clinical placement activities and contributes to scholarly activities within the school.

The Clinical Academic Coordinator has primary responsibility for the coordination and monitoring of the School of Nursing and Midwifery clinical placement experience for undergraduate students.??

The CAC will work closely with SNM Course Coordinators to ensure optimum quality clinical placement providers are sourced and organised to maintain and strengthen placement opportunities and promote continuity of learning for students.

About the position

A Level B academic with a teaching focussed appointment will work without the need for close supervision and is expected to develop curriculum, coordinate subjects, teach and support students as they learn. In addition, a teaching focussed academic will support the administrative functions of the nursing and/or midwifery disciplines as well as undertake scholarly work relevant to the development of learning and teaching in their designated role, discipline or professional field.

A teaching focussed academic is expected to demonstrate teaching excellence in keeping with the La Trobe Teaching Excellence Principles and maintain a track record of excellence as evidenced by Student Feedback on Teaching (SFT) surveys, peer-feedback on teaching and through other evidence-based measures, where applicable.

Further, a level B teaching focussed academic will co-ordinate and/or lead the activities of other staff, relevant to the Clinical Academic Coordinator role, and as appropriate to learning and teaching in the disciplines.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;


	?Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
	A PhD degree (working towards, or equivalent accreditation or standing) in nursing and/or midwifery recognised by the 51国产视频/professions as appropriate for the discipline and role.??
	Current or recent participation in clinical nursing practice and/or clinical teaching environments.

The Centre for Teacher Education at the 51国产视频 of Vienna is home to the Austrian Educational Competence Centre Biology (AECC Biology), which is headed by Prof. Andrea M?ller. The centre conducts scientific research in the field of teaching and learning of Biology. Through innovative, practice-oriented national and international research, teaching and development projects we contribute to the advancement of biology education in schools and other educational institutions. We aim to use the results of our research to derive evidence-based recommendations for school practice, education policy, and the initial and continuing professional development of biology teachers. The current research foci of our team are education for sustainable development (ESD), environmental education, climate change education and biodiversity education, as well as scientific inquiry, particularly experimental skills and understanding the nature of science (NOS).
At AECC Biology, you can expect to work with a team of highly engaged researchers at Austria's largest biology education facility. We offer innovative national and international state-of-the-art research projects, interdisciplinary collaborations and a large network of research partners around the world. We also offer multiple award-winning third-mission projects, an extensive network of partner schools and the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of seconded in-service teachers. You will also have the opportunity to use and help to shape two unique biology education facilities in Austria: the “AECC Biology Teaching-and-Learning Lab” and the “Bee.Ed Research and Teaching Apiary” with an attached biodiversity garden. These two facilities congenially combine third mission activities for school classes with innovative biology teacher training and state-of-the-art biology education research.

Your future tasks:

Your primary area of responsibility is the further establishment and management of the research at the AECC Biology, a long-term research infrastructure led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andrea M?ller. The tasks include research support (covering the entire research cycle from design, data collection, analysis, data curation and management, interpretation, and writing of publications), funding acquisition, engagement in third-mission, administrative and organizational activities, as well as the management of the two research facilities TLL and Bee.Ed.

	Complement and expand existing research expertise at the AECC Biology in the field of Biology Education

	Project applications and acquisition of third-party funding at national (e.g. FWF) and EU level
	Professional support in the mentorship and supervision of AECC Biology’s early career scientists (PhD candidates)

About the role

This post-doctoral researcher position will play a central role in delivering King’s College London’s contribution to the newly NIHR-funded Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research (CAMHR), led by the 51国产视频 of Hull in collaboration with King’s and the 51国产视频 of York. Based within the Addictions Department at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), the post-holder will support a five-year programme of research across three priority areas related to substance use and mental health. Working under the direction of Professor Paolo Deluca, this role will contribute to the implementation of innovative methodologies—particularly involving wearable technology—and strengthen collaborative links across institutions. The role is integral to advancing research excellence at King’s in the field of addiction science and supporting further development of interdisciplinary and translational research.
