Baldwin Wallace 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ is an arts-based university located in Berea, Ohio. It has roots dating back to 1845, as it was founded as Baldwin Institute by Methodist settlers.
As of 2012, the school became Baldwin Wallace 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ offering a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These include: arts, science, science in education, music, music in education, and science in nursing. Baldwin Wallace 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ is most notably known for its education, business, neuroscience, and music programmes.
The university has two campus sites. Berea ¨C which is the main campus ¨C and Corporate College East in Warrensville Heights. The second site primarily focuses on the educational needs of working adults and their employers.
The university operates several international student exchange programmes across the world, including: Kansai Gaidai 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ in Japan, Christ 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ in India, 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ of Osnabr¨¹ck in Germany, 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ of Hull in England, Webster 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ Vienna in Austria and many more. Other opportunities for international travel include faculty-led trips to places such as Europe, Iceland, India, Italy, Ecuador and China.
Baldwin Wallace 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ is also a pioneer within sustainability. In 2005, it became the first university to have a residence hall in Ohio with geo-thermal heating and cooling. In 2008, Baldwin Wallace became the first college in Ohio to offer a bachelor's degree in sustainability. Then in 2009, Baldwin Wallace became the first school in the state to install a wind turbine on its campus.
Baldwin Wallace has over 100 clubs and organisations, which include: Midnight Madness, Campus Entertainment Productions, as well as diversity groups such as Allies (an LBGT organisation), Middle-Eastern Student Alliance (MESA), Hispanic-American Student Association, and Native American Student Association.
Although Baldwin Wallace does not offer a degree in journalism, the campus has plenty of student media opportunities. The official campus newspaper is The Exponent while there are also two student-run magazines, The Maelstrom and The Mill. There is also has a radio station ¨C WBWC ¨C which is well known throughout the Cleveland area.
Baldwin Wallace's athletic teams compete as members of NCAA Division III athletics in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The university¡¯s sports centre ¨C the Lou Higgins Centre ¨C was renovated and expanded in 2005 and offers club sports.
Notable alumni include Jim Tressel, former OSU Football coach, Astronaut Robert F. Overmyer, Olympian Harrison Dillard.
