The education subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ Rankings 2023, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

It highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: education, teacher training, and academic studies in education.

This year¡¯s table includes 655 universities, up from 596 last year.

Stanford 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ leads the table for the sixth consecutive year. It is joined in the top three by the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of California, Berkeley and Harvard 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ. These three US-based institutions maintain their order from last year.

The rest of the top 10 sees a different order from last year, with the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Hong Kong rising one spot to fifth place, and China¡¯s Peking 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ rising one spot to seventh. Michigan State 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ is its only new addition, climbing three spots to ninth.

This year¡¯s only newcomer is Purdue 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ West Lafayette, which makes its debut at 78th (joint with the UK¡¯s 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Nottingham).
