The education subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ Rankings 2021, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

It highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: education, teacher training, and academic studies in education.

This year¡¯s table includes 537 universities, up from 477 last year.

Stanford 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ leads the table for the fourth consecutive year. There are two new entries in the top 10: Tsinghua 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, which makes its debut in the list at seventh, and Vanderbilt 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, which rises one place to 10th. The universities of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin-Madison fall out of this group.

Elsewhere, the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Melbourne and National Taiwan Normal 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ rise to join the top 20, while Beijing Normal 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ and Monash 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ make significant progress to rank in the top 30.

Alongside Tsinghua, two other institutions feature in the top 100 in their maiden year: the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Twente, which ranks 38th, and the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of California, Davis at 73rd.
