The Times Higher Education China Subject Ratings are the only performance tables that judge Chinese institutions against their global peers based on the Chinese Ministry of Education¡¯s classification of subjects.

The ratings for physical science reveal performance across 14 subjects: astronomy; atmospheric sciences; biology; chemistry; ecology; geography; geology; geophysics; history of science and technology; marine sciences; mathematics; physics; statistics; and systems sciences.

In total, 1,266 universities worldwide receive a rating for at least one subject in the physical science pillar.

Seven universities achieve an A+ grade in all 14 of the physical science subjects: Columbia 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ; Harvard 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ; 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of California, Berkeley; 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of California, Los Angeles; 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Cambridge; 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Oxford; and 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Toronto.

Peking 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ is the top-performing institution in mainland China; achieving 11 A+ grades for physical science.
