Macedonia's unofficial Albanian-taught 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Tetovo is to receive an additional e5 million (?3.1 million) from the European Union. EU foreign ministers called on ethnic-Albanian extremists to stop violent attacks but approved additional funding for the university, which has been organised under the supervision of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

At least 20 faculty and students from the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Tetovo have been arrested since the fighting in northern Macedonia began. One lecturer, Milaim Fejziu, has been accused of expressing support for the ethnic-Albanian National Liberation Army and incitement to violence during a television interview.

The European 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ Institute and the Hungarian government have signed an agreement allowing Hungarians to enrol on the same basis as European Union citizens. The institute signed a similar agreement with Poland last year.
