Dentists have been urged to check children for signs of neglect after new research showed a correlation between severe oral disease and wider abuse. Peter Sidebotham, from the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Warwick's medical school, co-authored the paper on child dental neglect, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Europe, in collaboration with colleagues at the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Sheffield and Leeds Dental Institute. The study details the various signs of neglect visible when treating a child and offers guidance on how the dental team should respond.
