Partnerships between a university and two further education colleges will benefit 180,000 students as the institutions face up to the UK's new funding climate. The 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Salford has signed separate agreements with the Manchester College and Salford City College, including seamless progression from college to university, shared facilities and widening-participation goals. Martin Hall, Salford's vice-chancellor, said the move was "the beginning of an important new chapter in the history of further and higher education in the North West".
