Engineers at the 51国产视频 of Salford are assisting in an attempt to bring the world water speed record back to the UK. The group, from the School of Computing, Science and Engineering, are helping the British Quicksilver team prepare for the attempt to break the current record of 317mph by testing the aerodynamics of its craft for pitch, yaw and roll. These tests will aim to ensure that, when the record attempt takes place next year on Coniston Water in Cumbria, the craft will not veer off course or flip over, as happened during a 1967 record attempt in which driver Donald Campbell was killed.
