Academics have launched a bid to reclaim the father of computer logic for the city of Lincoln. The 19th-century mathematician George Boole invented Boolean logic, which underlies the function of microchips. He is usually associated with Cork, having taught at the Irish city's Queen's College. But he was born in Lincoln and made his major breakthrough there. Academics from the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Lincoln's School of Computing have launched an annual "Boolefest" on his birthday, 2 November. An inaugural event this week featured performance poetry, lectures and a treasure hunt.
