Researchers from the UK and China are collaborating on a way to neutralise the unpleasant taste of medicines. Teams from the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Bradford and the Shanghai 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Traditional Chinese Medicine hope to find a superior alternative to sugar that will make both Western and Chinese medicines more palatable, particularly to young children. Part of Bradford's ongoing China Bridges project, the research is being funded by the municipal government of Changzhou. The findings will be commercialised through a jointly owned spin-off company based in China.
