Swansea Institute of Higher Education has applied to the Privy Council to change its name to Swansea Metropolitan 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ. The move is a result of changes to the constitution of the federal 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales. The 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales, Aberystwyth, the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales, Bangor, and the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales, Swansea, have already changed their names to Aberystwyth 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, Bangor 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ and Swansea 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ respectively. The 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales College, Newport has dropped the word "College" from its name. All institutions are continuing to award 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales degrees.
