Members of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ and College Union at King¡¯s College London have voted to strike over job cuts.

In the ballot, 70 per cent of staff who voted backed a strike, while 85 per cent supported action short of a strike. The turnout was 64 per cent.

The management at King¡¯s has proposed 205 redundancies.

The union said the ¡°nature and timing of industrial action will become much clearer in the next few days¡±.

Unrest over job cuts is spreading across higher education.

UCU members at the universities of Sussex and Leeds had already voted for strike action, and the Leeds vote prompted a deal with management.
