Scotland's education secretary Fiona Hyslop was this week expected to honour the Scottish National Party's manifesto pledge to axe the ?2,000 graduate endowment scheme. The scheme was introduced by the former Labour-Liberal Democrat coalition when it abolished tuition fees for Scottish students. Graduates made a ?2,000 contribution to a ring-fenced fund to support poorer students. The Scottish Government is expected to meet the annual cost of the scheme from central funds.
