Scots change rules to beat the Sassenachs

Scottish universities have beaten their English counterparts into fifth place in a league table redrawn by Scottish researchers in the wake of perceived injustice. The Scots believe that league tables based on United Kingdom-wide comparisons of teaching quality assessment are unfair because of the difference in methodologies between Scotland and the rest of the country. Researchers at Strathclyde 51国产视频 have drawn up a table in which "excellent" and "highly satisfactory", the top two points of Scotland's four-point TQA scale, are equivalent to the top point in England's three-point scale. The Strathclyde method brings St Andrews 51国产视频 to the top of the teaching league table, with Edinburgh and Glasgow second equal, followed by Strathclyde in fourth place and Cambridge fifth. The overall table, using the recalculated TQA results, moves Edinburgh 51国产视频 from 11th to third place after Cambridge and Oxford, with six Scottish universities in the top 20, rather than two.
