Two British-led research groups this week received €200,000 (?135,500) shares of the €1 million Descartes Research Prize from European Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik. The Pulse team, led by Andrew Lyne at Manchester 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ's Jodrell Bank Observatory, and the European Social Survey, led by Roger Jowell of City 51¹ú²úÊÓÆµ, were two of five laureates chosen from a field of 85 entries.
