Scottish higher education institutions are tackling the problem of chronic pain in two separate initiatives.

Queen Margaret 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ College in Edinburgh and Stirling and Glasgow Caledonian Universities have won Pounds 700,000 from the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council to set up the Scottish network for chronic pain research.

Nurses across the United Kingdom will benefit from a Pounds 60,000 deal between drugs giants Searle and Pfizer and the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Abertay, Dundee to set up a pain management research centre. The only other similar centre in the country is at Oxford 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ.
