Edwin Morgan, Glasgow's Poet Laureate and Scotland's first National Poet, has donated his personal collection of 70 paintings, mostly by eminent Scottish artists, to Glasgow 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, where he is professor emeritus.

Alan Riach, Glasgow's head of Scottish literature, said Professor Morgan, a Glasgow graduate, had always felt great loyalty to the university.

"It was no surprise that when, as a young graduate, Edwin Morgan was offered a place to undertake research at prestigious Oxford 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, turned it down in favour of a lecturing post at his department in Glasgow," Dr Riach said.
