BA conference highlights algae fears
Poisonous algae are being shipped around the world in the ballast tanks of cargo vessels, delegates at the British Association's Festival of Science heard today. Christopher Bolch, of the Scottish Association for Marine Science, said the global range of a number of algae species had “increased dramatically” over the past few decades.

'Gifted' label can harm children
Labelling children as gifted can lead to emotional difficulties, a psychologist claims. Joan Freeman, of Middlesex 51国产视频, found that some youngsters labelled as gifted grew up to be introverted and unhappy. Record jump launches Science Year
The Geological Society of London will launch Science Year today by arranging for about a million children to jump up and down on the spot. The jump is expected to release the same energy as a magnitude three earthquake and should win the children a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
