Increase in number of stay-at-home students

* More than one in five new students plans to live at home when they begin higher education this autumn, according to figures from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service.

This is slightly more than last year. "There has been a growing trend in recent years for higher education applicants to choose courses that will allow them to stay at home, avoiding the need to pay for somewhere else to live," said UCAS chief executive Tony Higgins.
