The claim that "male professors at Stirling 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ earn 24 per cent more than females" is simply wrong ("Sexism and ageism blight careers of female academics, says Natfhe", THES, May 26) We understand that you were supplied with this data in an inaccurate Association of 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ Teachers press release. The truth is that the median salary for male professors at Stirling is Pounds 40,995 while for female professors the figure is Pounds 41,373. Some 19 per cent of professors at the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Stirling are female.
