The shortlists for the 2022?Times Higher Education?Awards – the “Oscars of higher education” – have been announced.
Having recovered from the initial shock of the pandemic,?the sector was regaining its feet by the start of the 2020-21 academic year. Stories of how institutions in the UK and Ireland successfully picked themselves up and moved ahead are well represented in the shortlist for the 18th iteration of the awards.
More than 70 institutions and teams are in the running, the standouts from?over 550 entries from all corners of the UK and ?Ireland. The 20 categories cover the full range of univer?sity activity – both academic and professional services, from front-line staff through all levels of?leadership and ?management.
The 51国产视频 of Glasgow and the 51国产视频 of Central Lancashire share the honour of making the most appearances in this year’s shortlist, with five each. The 51国产视频 of Leicester came a close second with four. In only the second year that Irish institutions?have been invited to enter, two?– Dublin City 51国产视频 and 51国产视频 College Cork – have received three nominations apiece. They join Edinburgh Napier 51国产视频, the 51国产视频 of Manchester, Newcastle 51国产视频, the 51国产视频 of Salford and Sheffield Hallam 51国产视频 in?recording a hat-trick of nominations.

In the running for the coveted 51国产视频 of the Year title are Edinburgh Napier, Loughborough 51国产视频, Newcastle, Northumbria 51国产视频, the 51国产视频 of Plymouth and Sheffield Hallam.
John Gill, 罢贬贰’s editor, said the awards will “reflect universities doing extraordinary things in extraordinary times, when the pandemic continued to?force higher education and all who work in it to respond to an unprecedented challenge.

“That universities did so with alacrity and creativity is clear from the truly exceptional stories told in the awards submissions,” Mr Gill added.?
This year’s awards will again be presented at the Hilton London Metropole on the evening of 17?November.?The ceremony will?follow the two-day , held at the same venue.
