Officials from Kazakhstan's ministry of science and higher education face probable prosecution for spending 1.3 million tenge (Pounds 6,295) to refurbish its lavatories when education spending is being cut and student grants and academic salaries go unpaid. The prosecutor's office is also investigating how ten villas were bought for senior ministry personnel out of the higher education budget.
