Miriam David, professor of social sciences and founding director of the social sciences research centre at South Bank 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, has been appointed the institute's first dean of research; Sally Feldman, editor and director of BBC programmes, has been apointed dean of the school of media at the London College of Printing and Distributive Trades; Chris Wainwright, head of fine art at Nottingham Trent 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ has been appointed dean of art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Oliver Russell has been appointed chairman. He was formerly reader in mental health at Bristol 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, director of the Norah Fry Research Centre and honorary consultant to the Phoenix NHS Trust. He will succeed Peter Mittler.

Ian Halliday, former professor at the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Wales, Swansea, has been appointed chief executive, succeeding Ken Pounds next April 1.

Nuffield Institute for Health

Gerald Wistow, professor of health and social care and founder of the community care division, succeeded David Hunter on August 1 as director of the Nuffield Institute for Health at the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Leeds.
