Five research centres are to be created in Wales with ?16 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. About ?11 million will support a research partnership between Bangor and Aberystwyth universities to establish centres for coast research, rural environment, advanced materials and devices, and medieval and early modern studies. Some ?5 million will go to found a Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience.
