A shortage of skilled circus performers has forced the company charged with building the Millennium Dome, the New Millennium Experience Company, to recruit and train 100 young people for a certificate of higher education in circus performance. Giving evidence to a Commons select committee, NMEC chairman Robert Ayling and chief executive Jennie Page said training will equip recruits for the central show but also for long-term careers in the theatre and arts.
