Students attending the London May Day demonstration as peaceful protesters were angry that the actions of a few violent individuals reflected badly on them, said Scott Rice, president of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of London Union. 'Most of us regret the fact that the demonstration turned into pandemonium,' he said. 'Students have a proud record of campaigning on issues beyond education, but a lot of people now look down on all demonstrators as criminals.' About 100 protesters rallied near ULU in Malet Street at lunchtime, and police defused a smoke bomb in the ULU building.
