Celebrity pop stars such as Bob Geldof and U2's Bono are being increasingly accepted as world authorities on complex causes such as debt relief in Africa and accorded the respect of international statesmen, according to new research.

A report by John Street of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of East Anglia finds that, as a result, they can have a significant influence over the economic and political relationships between the developed and developing world.
