A paper in a Social Market Foundation book published this week echoes calls for the cap on top-up fees to be lifted. Alissa Goodman from the Institute for Fiscal Studies argues that fees should rise to reflect more accurately the financial value of a degree to graduates, which ISF researchers conclude is about ?200,000 in enhanced earnings. The book Charging Ahead? Spreading the Costs of Modern Public Services is a collection of essays by academics suggesting the Government needs to charge more for public services.
