Lord Briggs, former vice chancellor of Sussex 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ and historian of the BBC, is one of 13 media academics and practitioners elected to residential fellowships for the academic year 1995/96 by the Freedom Forum Media Studies Center at Columbia 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, New York. It is his second appointment to the year-long fellowship programme.
