Although expected, the government's humiliation of the Russell Group left the sector embarrassed. Mercifully, the mainstream media did not pick up on the additionally embarrassing news that the group could not even agree about a report for which it alone was collectively responsible.
It is time for the Russell Group to bow out. It is of little help to itself and of no help to the rest of us.
