Edinburgh 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ will strengthen its position in informatics with a multimillion-pound private donation towards a computer research centre. The Wolfson Foundation has pledged ?2 million towards a Wolfson Centre for Informatics and the life sciences. The chip developer, Wolfson Microelectronics, originally an Edinburgh 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ spin-off, has pledged ?1 million towards research fellowships in informatics and microelectronics.
