Britain needs a virtual centre for management excellence that draws on business school experts in order to keep up with global competitors, the Council for Industry and Higher Education said this week.
Such a centre could act as a world-class think-tank to guide UK business leaders, suggests a consultation paper. The idea has won support from vice-chancellors, the departments of trade and industry, education and employment, and the Association of Business Schools. The centre could be launched by 2001.
