Alec Broers is to become vice chancellor of the 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ of Cambridge on October 1, 1996. An electronics engineer and master of Churchill College, he will succeed Sir David Williams, the university's first full-time vice chancellor. Originally an Australian, he spent 20 years in the United States with IBM before returning to Cambridge as professor of electrical engineering in 1985.
