Entries for this year's Aventis prizes for science books, which reward the best popular science writing for adults and children, should be submitted by February 6. Longlists are announced in March and shortlists the following month, with winners revealed on June 14. The prizes, managed by the Royal Society, are worth ?10,000 each to the winning authors and ?1,000 to each shortlisted writer. The 2003 general prize went to Chris McManus for his investigation into the lop-sided universe, Right Hand, Left Hand . Details:
