Biologists are coming together to gain a greater influence over policy-makers and within society. A new federation to represent the booming bioscience community has been suggested by the Institute of Biology and the UK Life Sciences Committee.
The 100-plus learned societies that represent the wide variety of disciplines will be consulted about forming a federal structure.
According to consultants Brain Jamieson and Associates, who carried out a study on behalf of the IoB and UKLSC, this would give the bioscience community greater visibility and more impact on science policies, education, communication and publishing.
