The supermarket chain Waitrose is to further research into global food security by funding an academic chair in the discipline. In a partnership with Aberystwyth 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, the retail giant will fund the chair in sustainable agriculture, based within the university's Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences. The first incumbent will be Gareth Edwards-Jones, professor of agriculture and land-use studies at Bangor 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, who will take up the post in September.
