(Photograph) - Universities in Sweden, Canada, Austria and Finland are working with the European Physical Society to create a unified resource for physics on the Internet. The Internet Pilot to Physics () includes a physics calendar, an index to physics resources around the world, a marketplace for second-hand instruments and the like, and the beginnings of an interactive encyclopaedia of physics.

The site is still under construction but the Virtual Laboratory section already has links to about 15 interactive, graphical physics demonstrations and experiments, including the chance to play at managing a nuclear power plant. Many of the demos rely on Sun's Java language and require a Java capable browser
