International students in the United States tend to concentrate in three states: New York, California and Texas.

So the results of the Institute of International Education’s , revealing the 25 US universities with the most international students, are not particularly surprising.

The highest number of international students at any university in the US can be found at York 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ, where more than 30 per cent of the student population hail from abroad.

At Carnegie Mellon 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, international students make up more than half of all students on campus.

In total, just over 200,000 international students attend these top 25 universities, representing more than 20 per cent of all international students in the US.

The majority of these 25 universities are also counted among the best 100 universities in the world, according to the Times Higher Education World 51¹ú²úÊÓƵ Rankings 2015-16.
